R&D Process

At RTE LAB, research and development is where immersive technology becomes a practical tool for healthcare, education and human-centered innovation. We design, prototype and validate XR, VR and AI-based solutions that address real user needs — from therapy and rehabilitation to medical training, neurodevelopmental support and interactive learning.

Our R&D work combines technology development, user experience design, scenario creation, clinical and educational context analysis, and cooperation with academic, medical and institutional partners. The goal is not to build technology for its own sake, but to create solutions that can be tested, improved and implemented in real-world environments.

From idea to validated concept

We support the full early-stage innovation process — from identifying a problem and defining user needs to creating interactive prototypes and preparing solutions for pilot implementation. Our team helps transform early concepts into structured XR and AI-based experiences that can be tested with users, experts and stakeholders.

This process is especially valuable in areas where traditional digital tools are not enough: complex training, behavioral practice, therapy support, simulation, rehabilitation, medical education or neurodevelopmental intervention. By using immersive technologies, we can create controlled, repeatable and engaging environments for practice, observation and evaluation.

Human-centered R&D for healthcare

Every R&D project starts with people: patients, therapists, educators, students, clinicians, caregivers or trainees. We analyze their needs, limitations, context of use and expected outcomes before choosing the right technology. This allows us to design solutions that are not only visually impressive, but also understandable, usable and relevant in practice.

Our approach connects immersive experience design with domain knowledge from healthcare, education and psychology. We work with experts and institutional partners to make sure that scenarios, interactions and product assumptions are aligned with real therapeutic, educational or training goals

XR, VR and AI prototyping

RTE LAB develops interactive prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions using virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality and AI-supported interaction. Depending on the project, we can create immersive simulations, therapeutic environments, training applications, AI-guided scenarios, interactive dashboards, digital twins or browser-based companion tools.

Our prototypes are designed to answer practical questions: does the user understand the task, does the interaction support the intended behavior, can the scenario be repeated, can the specialist control the experience, and can the solution generate useful insights for future development or validation.

Research-driven product development

We help partners move from experimental ideas to structured product development. This includes defining use cases, preparing user journeys, building MVPs, designing pilot scenarios, collecting feedback and improving the solution through iterative development.

Our R&D process can support grant-funded projects, university collaborations, healthcare innovation programs, corporate R&D initiatives and early-stage product validation. We are experienced in working with multidisciplinary teams where technology, science, design and implementation requirements need to meet in one coherent product vision.

Areas of expertise

Our R&D work focuses on immersive and AI-supported solutions for healthcare, education and human performance. We are especially interested in projects where technology supports measurable development, better engagement, safer practice or improved access to specialist-led experiences.

Key areas include VR-based therapy support, neurodevelopmental tools for ADHD and autism, medical and soft-skills training, rehabilitation scenarios, clinical communication simulations, immersive educational environments, AI avatars, behavioral training, interactive analytics and user-adaptive learning experiences.
